Practical digital support for housing disrepair

The Right2Repair Assistant is being developed as a set of connected tools for tenants, landlords and housing providers. The aim is to make repair journeys easier to understand, document and progress.

One platform, different housing journeys

Social housing, private renting, landlord management and housing-provider case handling each need different questions, terminology and processes. R2R keeps those routes separate while using one overall design and support approach.

R2R is designed to support informed action, not to replace professional legal, housing, health or safety advice.

Our beginnings

Why R2R was created

R2R grew from work undertaken through The Open University’s Justice in Action module. It responds to a practical problem: people facing housing disrepair often need help turning a repair concern, scattered correspondence and photographs into a clear record and a manageable next step.

The aim is to make that process easier for tenants and to support more organised repair handling by landlords.

How we work

Our approach

Start with the facts

Plain-English questions help people explain what happened. Uncertain information should stay visibly uncertain.

Use the relevant route

Housing circumstances and UK nation matter. R2R separates those journeys and points users towards relevant official sources.

Support informed action

Useful records and clearer correspondence support the next step. R2R does not guarantee a repair outcome or replace individual professional advice.

R2R is an independent project. Its academic origins do not imply endorsement by The Open University, an advice organisation or a public authority.
